have R.S.3 from National Archives but only details are application for seamans identity card 2-10-1943. [17] states subject to essential work[Merchant Navy] rating Fireman Dis A No R294166. D.O.B. 11.4.1925 Robert Forrester.
This is my Uncle but my mother has not heard from him or knows his whereabouts and would love to find out what happended to him. |

It looks as if you have the Seaman’s Pouche which is BT 372/644/91 which often contain vey little although you may fins a photograph albeit a mug shot http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...CATID=-3363873 His CRS10 should give details of the ships he served on, it should be in the TNA Kew under piece BT382/598 if you are able to visit Kew then you will be able to view the file free otherwise follow the “Request This” link give all the details that you have available DoB, full name, Dis A R 294166, last known address etc http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...accessmethod=5 Once you have the last ship he served on then you will be able to obtain the ships log crew agreement for the period he signed on, which might throw some light as to what happened Ray Last edited by Ray Buck : 11-03-2010 at 06:49 AM. |
